Quran Orb reserves the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy periodically. Users will be notified of any significant changes, and continued use of the core system after these modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised privacy policy.

Quran Orb browser extension

The Quran Orb extension ("Quran Orb: Listen to Quran") lets you listen to Quran recitations from your browser toolbar.

What stays on your device: your chosen language; your last play queue (the recordings you queued, up to 114 items) with your position and speed; and the reciter you chose last, so the next surah can play in the same voice. This is kept in the browser's extension storage on your device only, so you can continue listening. All of this stays on your device and is never sent anywhere. Removing the extension deletes it.

What is sent to Quran Orb: to show the reciters of a surah and play recitations, the extension requests the reciter lists, the recordings and the audio from quranorb.com, the same way the website does. Searching for a surah happens on your device and sends nothing. Audio and reciter images are delivered through Quran Orb's content delivery network. The extension does not sign you in or send any account details. Like any request to quranorb.com, these requests may include normal browser data such as your IP address and, if you are signed in to quranorb.com in the same browser, the cookies your browser attaches; we do not use them in the extension.

Reminders (optional, off by default): if you turn them on, your browser asks permission to show notifications, and the extension keeps your choice (on or off, and how often) on your device only. The reminder is created on your device by a timer inside the browser and is shown only when nothing is playing. Nothing is sent to Quran Orb or anyone else to make it work.

Continuing between quranorb.com and the extension: so you can pick up a recording where you left it, the extension and the Quran Orb website exchange one small note inside your browser: which recording it is, its surah and reciter, the second you reached, and when. Only pages of quranorb.com can do this. Nothing is sent to a server or to anyone else, no audio and no account details are included, and each new note replaces the last (the newest one wins). The website uses the note only to offer you to continue listening in your browser, as it already does with your own saved place.

What we do not do: no accounts or sign-in, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no reading of the pages you visit, and no selling or sharing of data with anyone.
